Minnetonka MN Seamless Gutters and Gutter Guards

With winter finally behind us, now is the time to make sure that the “systems” designed to move water away from their home are in proper working order. Especially in anticipation of the rainy season’s arrival, it goes without saying that rain gutters are an important part of maintaining your home.

Heavy rain can cause serious damage to your home if you haven’t taken some very basic precautions. Homes that aren’t properly protected from the elements are at risk of flooding and mold infestation, which can cost thousands of dollars to fix once the damage is done.

Since mold cannot grow without the presence of moisture, preventing mold from growing in the home starts with taking the proper steps to safeguard against water infiltration. So, before the arrival of the rainy season, now is the time to take action.

Remember… May is National Home Improvement Month!

As we welcome spring’s warmer weather, National Home Improvement Month is the ideal time for homeowners to inspect the following frequently forgotten items:

Any drains located around the home or in stair wells outside the home – when debris, dirt or leaves cover these drains, they will not work as intended and they will cause water to back-up and possibly rise high enough to flood your home.

Downspouts/Splash Blocks – make sure that your downspouts and splash blocks are attached properly and placed in such a manner that will deliver water away from your home and not allow it to “pool” around your walls/foundation.

Gutters – make sure that your gutters are free from debris that can cause them to clog. When water can’t flow properly from the gutter to the downspouts, it will run over the edge of the gutter and cause water to fall around your walls and foundation (this defeats the whole purpose of what your gutters are designed to do). Gallons of water dripping onto the ground directly next to your home’s foundation is NOT a good thing.

ALSO, make sure that your gutters are properly attached to your home. Over time, these can come loose from the side of the house and water will not flow into the gutter properly. It will find its way in the space left between the house and the gutter and will drain down and “pool” around the foundation.

When water collects and freezes in the gutters over the years, this makes them susceptible to leaks. With seamless gutters, however, leaks are less likely to happen.

Save yourself an unbelievable amount of trouble when gutter problems actually threaten your home. Remember, the main purpose of the gutter is to channel water away from your home and if they are clogged, this obviously is not happening.

Invest In Gutter Guards

Investing in gutter guards can also help lesson your load.  Fitting snugly over the gutter, gutter guards prevent them from being filled with debris. They can be installed with your new seamless gutter system or onto your existing gutters, in most cases.

Gutter guards is a solution that can help prevent accidents from happening AND keep your gutters clean at the same time. Installing gutter guards is something that nearly any homeowner should consider.
